This video introduces terminology of the urinary system, related to the medical specialties nephrology and urology. A quick anatomical overview covers the renal capsule, cortex, medulla, calyx, pelvis, and hilum, as well as the nephron, renal corpuscle, glomerulus, Bowman’s capsule, renal tubule, and afferent/efferent arterioles. Latin and Greek roots related to the urinary system are reviewed including the most common root uria/ouron, and other roots from azot and cyst to urethr and vesic.
